JosLynne Millre Thomson

Wow! I haven't updated our blog since we announced our pregnancy in September... As you can guess we have been a bit busy. Anyway, JosLynne Millre Thomson made her debut on March 1st 2010 @ 4:30pm. She weighed in at 7lb 8oz and didn't look anything like we expected! After having McCoy @ 5lb 7oz and Allie @ 8lb 11oz, I welcomed a normal sized baby! Brian was a proud Papa as always and one of my most favorite things in the world is watching him with our newborn children.

Once we made it home from the hospital we were busy trying to adjust to life with 3 children and the battle continues on still! JosLynne became jaundiced, as have all of our children, and we began photo-therapy when she was 3 days old and continued for about 10 days. She is still yellow at just over a month old, but our doctor thinks after a couple months her levels will return to normal, we hope she won't be an Oompa Loompa forever! She has some reflux... Okay that was a lie, she has A TON of reflux, and she spits out her nose, sometimes her nose and her mouth, but mainly her nose! We were a little worried that she was aspirating it at first however she seems to have that under control now, and her lungs are sounding clear. As long as she is on medication, it's manageable and we only go through 2-3 burb rags a day!

As for looks, she is a little McCoy, and he couldn't be more proud! I can't believe how much she resembles him as a baby. Once and a while she pulls an Allie face, and the older she gets I see a lot of Brian in her too! She is growing like a weed and we can't imagine our little family without her. She is spoiled rotten, and loves to be held! I swore my children would never sleep in our bed, but she nestles right in between us every night! She is by far our most spoiled baby! I find the days passing by quickly and I rarely get much done besides snuggling with Jos! Somebody told me that I won't regret it and I've taken that to heart, the dishes can always wait, right?

It's hard to believe that I will be returning to work in less than a month and life will trudge on as if nothing had changed. For now I think I'll just enjoy my time at home and try not to think about my children growing up before my eyes!

We're Having a Baby!

Finally... We're having a baby! Now that all the scare is over we are announcing it! As all of you probably know we have a hard time getting pregnant and keeping the baby once it finally happens This time we decided not to share our exciting news with anyone until we were past the 12 week mark, and we made it! I am officially 14 1/2 weeks today and things are starting to look up! I have been more sick with this baby than any of the others and haven't really felt like getting out of bed! I haven't quite been myself and it's been a little frustrating! This morning however is the first morning in 3 months that I have actually felt descent, thankfully so.
We did have one scare about a week and a half ago when I was having a lot of pain in my stomach. We made a trip to the ER and found out that I had a pretty bad kidney infection, which explains the backache I have had for the last couple of months! I thought it was just from my expanding hips and uterus! After IV and oral antibiotics and lots of water I think it's finally cleared up!
We are really excited and thankful that we are able to have another baby and are hoping for a boy since this will be the last one... so keep your fingers crossed! Brian says he really want's a boy but if it's a girl we are going to have to work a lot harder at making her a Tom Boy because he is loosing all hope fast with Allie! Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers!

Girls Camp 2009!

Well it is Saturday morning and I am recovering from girls camp again! My house is a disaster, there is no food in the cupboards (well that's relatively normal actually!), and I am really tired! We left for girls camp on Tuesday at 8 am. Got to millers flat around 10 and then had a flag ceremony to start of the camping. I decided that this year I would not even start day one with makeup or even "do" my hair, so I thought this was a good idea... Just think, so day old mascara to clean off on day two with cold water in a dark, dirty bathroom and no hairspray to act as a dirt magnet! Well it was really sunny at flag ceremony and I had not yet put on sunscreen, yeah whoops! So the very first hour we were at girls camp I got sunburned, not just a little either, I had blisters on my nose and forehead! The good news is I didn't get burned on my entire face, I was wearing these very stylish sunglasses, you know the ones that cover just over your eyebrows down to about your lips? Yeah those are the ones! So now not only do I have this bright red nose and forehead and partial cheeks and chin, I can't take of my sunglasses because the raccoon line is a little awkward! I was off to a great start!

Day 2 brought us hikes! I wasn't going to go on a hike this year, but started feeling like I needed to and so I decided to go on the "short" hike with the 1st years! After we had been walking for 1 & 1/2 hours on what was supposed to be a 3 mile hike, one of the stake leaders informed us that they made it a little longer this year so the girls didn't get back to camp so fast! Are you kidding me? Come on, seriously that's why I went on this hike! It turned out to be a good hike though and I am glad I went, even though I missed out on a nap! Later that night we had an awesome devotional! Deena Geddes came and spoke to our girls and she was awesome! She reminded me a lot of John Bytheway, or at least her style did! She brought the spirit with her and kept every one's attention for a good hour and a half! She spoke about knowing that you are a daughter of god and I want everyone to know, that I know. Anyway she was great, if you ever get the chance to hear her or book her, do it!

Thursday morning started off my favorite day at camp! Not only is it technically the last day at camp, it's testimony meeting day! And this year it was even better because Brian was our priesthood leader Thursday night so I got to share the most spiritual evening with him this year! The day was actually jam packed with things to do, we had our humanitarian projects, and certification projects to do which took most of the day! We also did a service project for one of the other wards and painted their nails. (That's only service at girls camp!) The stake president and our bishopric were our guests for dinner that night and it was fun to tell stories of camp to them! My favorite was when the bishop asked Mary Osmond, our camp cook, why her eye was bandaged? I replied that breakfast was a little late that morning and she had taken a hot dog roaster to the eye! She was a pretty good sport and commented that it was supposed to be ready at 8 and it was 8:06! We laughed a little and then told the bishop the real story, that she had gotten dirt in it and scratched it the night before.

For the most part camp was a success this year and we had a lot of fun! I am always glad that it is over, but more glad that I went! Oh and by the way, our theme this year was "Daughters of a King" and we used Disney Princesses for our camp mascots. Ours was Pocahontas!

Tee Ball!

This was McCoy's last year playing Tee Ball! He was not very happy at first when Brian told him that he needed to play for one more year before moving on to coach pitch, but I am so glad that Brian decided that. McCoy has played Tee Ball the last 2 years and they were both rough to say the least! The first year Brian and I took on coaching and McCoy was a little snot! He didn't want to play in the outfield and would throw a fit if he didn't get to run all of the bases at once, but he didn't want to be the last batter either! Therefore McCoy was the first batter of every inning and he ran all of the bases. How embarrassing! Last year Brian was the assistant coach in hopes that McCoy would behave better for someone else, nope!

This year however was different! McCoy played great and was such a good sportsman. He would run after the ball no matter where it was hit, and he usually got it! He also played first base a lot and was getting pretty good at catching the ball and tagging the base before throwing it home! It was a lot of fun to watch McCoy this year, I got to go to 3 or 4 games and enjoyed them all!

At the Lion's Tournament McCoy was amazed at the Coach Pitch League. He was almost late for his game because he was watching their game. He kept asking me if that's what he gets to do next year. He is pretty sure he can do it, but only if Dad gets to pitch!

I've decided that it is a lot of fun to watch your kids grow up and start new things! Maybe I do live a little through them, but who doesn't? Kids are awesome! I'm not saying that I would do it again, but I am saying that I wouldn't trade it for the world!

Vaseline!

So while Brian & I had a great day away from the kids, my mom was struggling with Allie! We arrived home from our Fishlake date to find my mom feeding Allie, again. I think that after her morning she just buckled her in the high chair and kept feeding her to keep her out of mischief! When we walked in the door the first thing we heard was "Look at her hair."

Apparently Allie was very tired so my mom layed her down to take a nap and left her alone for approximately 20 minutes. She was very quiet and my mom figured that she was a sleep. When she went to check on her, she found evidence to the contrary! As she opened the door to the bedroom, everything appeared normal. Allie was laying on the bed wide eyed and stiff as a board. Then mom noticed the shine! My mom had just bought a great big tub of Vaseline and it was sitting on her headboard, Allie doing what any toddler would do, opened the Vaseline and had a hay day! My mom found Allie covered in Vaseline from head to toe, along with the sheets, headboard, Allies favorite blankey and everythng else in the room! Allie just lay there still as could be, I think she must have been playing dead! My mom started to clean up the mess, and Allie was very helpful as she pointed everywhere that there was more Vaseline! Needless to say, the sheets and clothes were ruined and McCoy's favorite pillowcase! My mom called my grandma and together they washed Allies hair twice to try and get the Vaseline out, it didn't work! That's when we arrived. Allie's hair was very greasy... We could do almost anything we wanted with it. We decided that we would try to put some cornstarch on it and see if that would bind to the Vaseline enough to pull it out of her hair. What a mess! Allie loved every minute of being rolled in powder and even helped put it in her hair. We washed it with clarifying shampoo and hoped for the best... Nope, we still have plenty of Vaseline in her hair! Hopefully another cornstarch treatment or two and we will be back to normal... Sorry my mom didn't get any pictures of the Vaseline, because she was in such a panic, but we will post some great one's of the cleanup!

Fishlake Date

Yesterday Brian and I had a great date! We borrowed my dads Cherokee and went to Fishlake. Brian had never been there before and I thought he would enjoy it, I hope he did! We left Allie with my mom and McCoy was with his dad for the weekend, so it was just us. I forgot how much fun I have just being with Brian. We got to the lake about 10 am and just kind of took in the scenery. We didn't have a boat and the place where we wanted to bank fish was really crowded, so we decided to go up the road a bit and see if we could find another spot. We drove to Johnson's and decided that it looked pretty fun to hike around and drop in a line. Off we went! It was fun walking through the trees and we finally found a spot that looked pretty good. We no sooner got our line in and I had to go to the bathroom... So much for fishing! We loaded up all of our gear and headed back to the jeep. Brian said he wasn't disappointed because he didn't think that we would catch a fish anyway, I hope he wasn't. After the "potty break" we drove around for a while, always keeping an eye on the temp gauge so the jeep didn't overheat, and saw some really pretty places. There was even and "Old Spanish Trail" monument being put in and we stopped for some pics!

I had been bragging about the Bowery Haven Cafe and so we decided to eat there. It wasn't all that I remember it was, and a little pricey if you ask me, but oh well it was fun! We liked looking at all of the pictures of proud fishermen on the wall and enjoyed listening to the local gossip as we ate! After lunch we took a ride to the Fishlake Lodge, just to say we'd been there, and discovered that it could use some renovating! The Fishlake I remember as a kid is long gone, and it looks like it could use a facelift. I'm not so sure that Brian was impressed.

We decided that Fishlake wasn't all that great and decided to head back to Salina, taking the scenic route through Gooseberry. We were just onto the dirt road when we saw a fun little stream and decided to walk it for a while and see if we could find a fish. We did! Of course the were few and far between, and very small, but they were fish! We putted around there for a while just enjoying each others company and a lazy day together, and then headed back down the mountain.

It was a great time, and I enjoyed the conversation! It's amazing what a day a way from children can do for your relationship! Brian even made the comment that he had fun too, and that we should do it again, yay!

Twilight!

So Twilight came out about a week ago, and it is official, I have the best husband ever! Brian never went to the theatre to watch the movie with me so I have been making him promise to watch Twilight with me when it came out! The movie was released on friday March 21 at 12:01 AM. So I told Brian to get some sleep because we had a date at 12:30! What a sweet husband! We went to dinner at 7:30 and put the kids to bed at 9, and then we waited! Neither of us had ever waited in line for a release, so we didn't quite know what to expect. Around 11:45 I headed to Wal~Mart to stand in line... it was huge! It did however move rather quickly once the release started and I was home at 12:20! I thought for sure Brian would be asleep, but he was waiting! We stayed up to watch the movie and it ended around 3! We haven't stayed up that late, at least on purpose, since we got married! Brian even said he liked the movie! It was so fun! Allie woke up at 7 the next morning and we made her a bottle and luckily she fell back to sleep until 9, whew! We were both exhausted the next day, but it was so worth it for a little us time! Thanks Brian, I love you!
